Week 10 ::
Eli:
Math
I have been practicing how to add 10 to a number. I'm getting pretty fast at it now.
LA
In Odysseus they went to the Land of the Dead. But first, some of his men were turned into pigs. But then Odysseus wen to save them. A messenger gave him a thing to protect him so when he saw the lady she couldn't curse him. They stayed there for a year before they left for the Land of the Dead.
Science
When we went on our hike up Adam's Canyon we saw two Jerusalem beetles. One lost a leg. The second one had all 6 legs. We flipped him over and saw his huge pincers
Tech
We didn't have tech class this week because we took a day off for Veteran's Day. My dad is in the Air Force so we went for a hike instead.
Piano
I have both Jingle Bells and School Bells memorized. I have my recital on Saturday.

I am practicing mental math for addition. When I did the problem 18+74 I did 10+70=80. Then 8+4+12. Then 12+80=92.
LA
Today in Odysseus we read about the Enchantress. They went to another island and Odysseus went into the forest to see if there was a town but he didn't find one. But he did find a stream of smoke. So some of his men went to see what it was. But the only guy who returned was safe because he hid himself and didn't become drunk like the other men. The other men became drunk and she turned them into hogs. The man returned to Odysseus and told the story. So Odysseus set out himself. He ran into Hermes, the messenger of the Gods, who gave him a plant that has a flower that was white as milk and a root as black as midnight. When he went to the house he bid her to come out, took the drink, but the plant protected him from being enchanted. He instead drew his sword and she was frightened and bade him be her friend. Then he made her swear that she wouldn't curse him or his comrades again. He also bade her turn his comrades back into men.
Science
This week I went on a hike. I found some sand diggers. They dig in sandy parts. We got to see its huge pincers. They are called Jerusalem ants.
Tech
We didn't have tech class this week because we took a day off for Veteran's Day. My dad is in the Air Force so we went for a hike instead.
Orchestra
We are learning to use the bow in Orchestra. We are working on Dredel, Jingle Bells, and a Mozart Melody, which is Twinkle Twinkle.

I've about how to square a rectangle. I've also learned what a parabola is from graphing the area of different rectangles.

In Johnny Tremain he was told to look for other work because when his hand was burnt and it healed him thumb was sealed to his palm. People think that he is crippled and cursed and he hasn't really looked for work yet but he was apprenticed to a silversmith, who told him he couldn't be a silversmith anymore.
Science
For botany I am testing what happens to plants in different environments. I have 4 radish plants. One is in a dark place with water. One is in a sealed container with water in the dark. One is in the sun with water and one is in the sun without water. The plants in the dark room are turning from green to yellow and even to white.

In orchestra we learned how to use the bow on the A and D strings. We are still working on our concert pieces as well.
